A plea for smarter parole: N.Y. has to stop setting people up to fail

As prosecutors who count on parole to serve its intended purpose of rehabilitation and public safety, we believe parole in New York State is in need of reform.

Only Illinois reincarcerates more people on parole for technical violations, like missing an appointment or testing positive for drugs....
