Dow plunges, then rallies a day after historic 1,000-point surge

The stock market continued on its dramatic roller coaster ride Thursday, with the Dow sharply dropping — then making a late rally — one day after its biggest single-day point gain ever.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 23,138.82, up more than 260 points.
