Thunderous applause and the sound of bagpipes greeted the young NYPD officer shot by friendly fire as he left a Staten Island Hospital Tuesday.

Officer Amir Pali waved to a throng of police officers as he was wheeled out, accompanied by his mom, dad, wife and police partner.
